First university in Europe to open a Global Lounge – a hub for international students to socialise and meet students from Ireland and around the world.
The UCD International Student Society, one of the largest societies on campus with over 2,000 members, has been awarded 'University Society of the Year'.
The UCD International student support system includes a network of dedicated advisers and student peer mentors.
UCD is a member of several international research and education networks such as Universitas 21 (U21), Erasmus, UNICA and EUC.
Global footprint: UCD has a presence throughout the world through overseas programmes; providing and accrediting degree programmes in co-operation with partner institutions in China such as Peking, Renmin and Fudan; as well as in Singapore, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka.
UCD is actively expanding its network of UCD Global Centres around the world to include New York, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, and New Delhi; each of which provides a hub of research and education connections for students, faculty, alumni and partners.
UCD established the first Confucius Institute in Ireland in 2006.
Olympics: 8 UCD students and graduates qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games resulting in a silver medal, Ireland's first ever Olympic rowing medal.
Soccer: UCD is the only university in Europe to qualify for the UEFA Europa League in 2015/2016. UCD was the only university in Western Europe to compete in the premier division of their country's men's and women's national league in 2014/2015.
Rugby: UCD hosted the pool stages of the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2017. UCD hosted the International Women's Sevens in August 2015.
Hockey (women's): UCD Women's Hockey team won the treble of national titles in 2017. Irish Senior Cup Champions 2014, Irish Hockey League Champions 2014, qualifying to play in the highest European hockey club competition in 2015.
Table tennis (ping-pong): Irish intervarsity champions for 14 consecutive years.
Rowing: UCD Boat Club won the Senior Eight at the 2016 Irish Rowing Championships.
